Do You Run the Best School Food Drive?Posted by: marymrichman on Sep 08, 2010 |

I cannot tell you the number of wonderful, creative, and unique ideas I’ve seen from schools across the country when it comes to planning and executing their school food drives. It is wonderful to see schools, kids, parents and entire communities getting jazzed about helping others and making their community healthier and happier.
One idea I see time and time again is – COMPETITION. Between rivals, between 10, 20, 30 local schools, between classes, between grades. Really not surprising, schools are bubbling with pride which makes them wired to compete with one another and instituting a challenge is a fun and motivating way to increase the results and impact of your food drive.
That’s why I wanted to share a little competition that is going on for any and every school that holds a food drive or hunger effort. FamilyFun Magazine is holding a competition for the Best School Food Drive and will award a grand prize ($5,000 to the winner's school or charity of choice) to the school with the most creative program tackling hunger. The deadline to enter is November 30th so you have some time but it never hurts to start brainstorming!
